On the night of October 8, Russian troops struck again in the Chernihiv region. According to Chernihiv Energy JSC, more than 4,500 subscribers in the Nizhyn district were left without electricity due to damage to the energy infrastructure.
“ Nizhyn region is under fire again and an energy facility has been hit again. More than 4.5 thousand subscribers are without electricity. We are restoring it! ” the company noted.
The head of the Chernihiv OAV, Vyacheslav Chaus, reported that the enemy attacked the region with strike drones. Nizhyn, Pryluky, and Semenivka were hit.
“ Russian strike drones attacked Nizhyn, Pryluky, Semenivka. In Nizhyn, railway facilities were hit, fires occurred. In the morning, a strike drone hit an energy facility, causing emergency shutdowns. In Pryluky, a strike drone attacked an oil depot, a fire occurred. In Semenivka, an enemy drone hit an administrative building ,” Chaus noted.
It is also reported that during the attack, a special vehicle of a company carrying out road works in the Semenivska community was hit. The 56-year-old driver was injured and hospitalized. The vehicle was completely burned.
DTEK reported that one of the thermal power plants was attacked during the shelling.
“ According to preliminary information, two power workers were injured. They were promptly provided with all necessary assistance ,” DTEK reported.
Rescuers and power engineers are working on the scene, and repair and restoration work is ongoing.
