The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko, reported that Russian troops managed to achieve some success in advancing towards Vugledar through the use of counter-battery artillery (CBAT). This indicates an escalation of the conflict and new challenges for Ukrainian forces.
"Previously, this city was convenient to defend, it is at a height. But with the active arrival of the KABs to the front, the enemy managed to destroy it and move to the flank. Unfortunately, the KABs and aviation are the only things that allow the enemy infantry to move," Kovalenko writes.
It should be noted that there are other versions of the problems with the city's defense. Forbes wrote about the exhaustion of the brigade that has been defending Vugledar for 20 months. As a result, according to the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians have already entered the city and are trying to cut off the Armed Forces of Ukraine, surrounding them from the northern side.
