The Russian army has intensified its offensives in the Vugledar area, trying to increase pressure on Ukrainian forces and achieve tactical advantages. These attacks are aimed at eliminating the Ukrainian Armed Forces' advance west and southwest of Donetsk and attempting to control the H-15 highway connecting Donetsk with Zaporizhia.
According to ISW analysts, the Russians are coordinating their assaults from the southern flank of the Pokrovsky direction and Vugledar to create additional pressure on Ukrainian defenders and facilitate further operations in the region. Although these offensive actions are local in nature, they are aimed at consolidating the positions of the occupiers and preventing the transfer of Ukrainian reinforcements to other parts of the front.
Despite the escalation of fighting near Vugledar, other operations in the west of Donetsk region continue at the previous pace. In particular, the Ukrainian airborne brigade showed a video of successfully repelling a Russian attack near Kostyantynivka, where the enemy used four tanks and 17 armored vehicles.
The Russian military plans to capture Vugledar and Kurakhove to gain control of key routes, but they are facing significant difficulties. The intensive offensives in the Donetsk region may reach their climax earlier than the Russian command expects, as their resources are being depleted by the actions of Ukrainian troops not only in the Donbass, but also in border regions such as the Kursk region.
