Russia may propose the idea of dividing Ukraine into three parts as one of the possible scenarios for resolving the conflict, Interfax-Ukraine reports, citing intelligence sources. This plan, according to the sources, may be voiced during upcoming talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump.

The forecast of the Russian Ministry of Defense by this date indicates the division of Ukraine into three such parts:
1. “New regions of Russia” – the official annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions and Crimea with their “inclusion” into the Russian Federation;
2. “Pro-Russian state formation” in the territories of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr regions and Kyiv. This means that there will be pro-Russian authorities and Russian military bases here.
3. “Disputed territory” (western part of Ukraine) – Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Transcarpathian regions. The Kremlin wants to decide the future of these territories with Hungary, Poland and Romania.
