In a comment to Radio NV, Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles strike unmanned aerial systems battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Koshevy Ataman Ivan Sirko, expressed his belief that Russia is preparing an additional reserve for the possible opening of a new front.
Fedorenko said that Russia is taking covert mobilization measures, including raising rates for mercenaries, to build up an additional reserve. This reserve could be used to support current front lines or open up new areas of combat.
According to The Economist, there is a possibility that Russia will launch a new major offensive this summer, and Ukraine's ability to contain it is becoming less certain due to certain problems, in particular, with obtaining military assistance from the United States.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that Russia could launch a new offensive in June 2024. He stressed that Ukrainian forces lack weapons and ammunition, but they are still holding back the Russian occupiers.
It is known that the Russian military command plans to increase its military forces, hoping to conduct an offensive operation in the summer months. Other information obtained from the Russian publication Verstka indicates that Russia may be planning an offensive to surround Kharkiv.
All this indicates the tense situation in eastern Ukraine and the need for the Ukrainian armed forces to be appropriately trained and equipped to defend the country's territorial integrity.
