Massive shelling of energy infrastructure: Russia strikes Ukraine

Russia launched a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine this morning, targeting energy infrastructure in various regions of the country. The missiles were launched from Tu-95MS bombers, ships in the Black Sea, and MiG-31 fighters. In addition, Shahed suicide drones were used to strike Ukrainian cities and villages.

Large groups of missiles headed through the center to western Ukraine and hit Stryi, Ternopil, Frankivsk region and other western regions. There are ballistic hits in Odessa and Kharkiv, at around 9 am Russia struck western Ukraine and Zhytomyr region with aeroballistic "Daggers".

The main target of the strike is the power system, the energy minister said. Light restrictions are increasing. Many of the cities that the Air Force has warned about the danger have important power facilities.

According to the Air Force, missiles were moving towards Kyiv through Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions at 7 a.m. There were many missiles in Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions. They flew in from the north through Chernihiv and Sumy regions.

After 8:30 a.m., several more groups of missiles entered Ukraine and headed for the center of the country, the FS reported a new threat to Kyiv.

The missiles are constantly changing direction, some of them headed west through Vinnytsia and Khmelnytsia regions at 7:30 a.m.

The second wave after possible strikes on Kropyvnytskyi also headed for Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi.

After 10 a.m., the alarms began to sound.

The last time Russia carried out such a combined strike was on November 28, when a number of energy facilities were destroyed and electricity problems intensified.

Also on December 10, Russia hit a hospital in Zaporizhia with a missile, killing 11 people.

Kharkiv in the morning, then western Ukraine

The Air Force reported threats of strikes in the Rivne region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Stryi in the Lviv region, Transcarpathia, and Ternopil .

Monitoring channels are reporting on energy strikes in these regions.

Strategic underground gas storage facilities are located in Stryi.

Several times, the Air Force reported strikes on Kozyatyn in Vinnytsia Oblast, where a large railway junction is located.

According to the PS, Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region .

At around 9 am, the aeroballistic "Daggers" headed for the Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil regions.

The PS also announced a new missile threat to Kyiv.

The second wave of missiles passed similarly to the first and its remains also reached Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Monitoring channels reported possible strikes in Burshtyn, where a large CHP plant is located, but there has been no official confirmation.

Energy sector under attack

As reported by Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, Russia continues its terror and energy throughout Ukraine is under massive attack.

"Energy professionals are taking all necessary measures to minimize the negative consequences for the power system. As soon as the security situation allows, the damage caused will be clarified," he wrote.

As reported by Ukrenergo, restrictions on electricity consumption are increasing due to the massive impact on the energy sector.

50% of consumers in the Ternopil region have been disconnected from electricity, the local OVA reported.

In Odessa, local media are reporting on the suspension of electric transport.

Kyiv also reported a significant increase in power outages.
