On August 8, 2024, Russia carried out a terrorist attack on a supermarket in Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, which is usually crowded with visitors. The attack resulted in the deaths of several people and nearly two dozen injuries.
The head of the Donetsk regional state administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported that two people were killed and 17 wounded at the moment. According to him, Russian troops shelled the city with artillery, hitting a supermarket with a pointed aim. This was another act of terror aimed at a gathering of people. One of the wounded is in serious condition and is receiving the necessary medical care.
Filashkin noted that the final consequences of the shelling are still being determined. Police, rescuers, medics, and other responsible services are working at the scene.
The Telegram channel "Donbas Operative" clarifies that there was a direct hit on the "Ekomarket" supermarket, which resulted in a fire. Information about the victims is still being clarified.
The Office of the President of Ukraine has already responded to this act of terrorism. Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak stated in his Telegram account: “The attack on the supermarket in Kostyantynivka is another act of terror by the Russians. War with civilians is all they know how to do. Russia must feel the full retribution for everything it does.”
This act of violence once again highlights the scale of the terror used by Russia in its war against the civilian population of Ukraine. The international community and the Ukrainian authorities continue to condemn such crimes and call for accountability for all those involved in these acts of aggression.
