On the night of September 7, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Kyiv with strike drones, likely Shahed-type. However, thanks to the effective work of Ukrainian air defenses, not a single drone reached its target.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMMA), enemy drones began entering Ukrainian territory from various directions by midnight, and reached Kyiv at around 3:00 a.m. The air alert lasted only 18 minutes, but air defenses acted effectively, shooting down all drones that threatened the city.
In the Pechersk district of Kyiv, debris from downed drones fell at four different addresses, causing fires in open areas. In one place, the flames covered an area of 50 square meters, but were quickly extinguished. In the Dnipro district, debris fell near a kindergarten, but, according to preliminary data, there were no injuries.
At around 3:00 a.m., residents of the central districts of the capital heard loud explosions, which were attributed to the operation of the air defense system. Despite the barrage of strikes, the city managed to avoid serious destruction.
This nighttime attack is another example of how Russian forces continue to attempt to harm civilian infrastructure, yet Ukrainian defenses are successfully defending the capital.
