In the Kursk region, the Russian armed forces are actively using drones that have high precision strikes and are able to effectively counter Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) equipment. This information was announced by analyst and co-founder of the DeepState project Ruslan Mykula on Radio NV, emphasizing the complexity of the fighting in the region.
Uncertainty at the front
Mikula noted that the situation in the Kursk region is characterized by constant fluctuations in hostilities, without a clear front line. Russian forces are conducting counterattacks, which, in turn, are responded to by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. “The strip changes several times a day, some landings change hands. In general, the situation is difficult. The Defense Forces have introduced additional reserves in order to restrain the enemy, because he has accumulated significant forces over the past month,” the expert noted.
Using FPV drones
One of the alarming trends is the active use by the enemy of FPV drones, which have proven to be resistant to electronic warfare. Mikula emphasized that these drones have a significantly higher hit rate than conventional wireless FPV drones. “These are, in essence, new-generation ATGMs. An FPV drone, connected by a twisted pair to a launch point, is virtually insensitive to electronic warfare,” he explained.
This new tactic of using drones is concerning, as it raises questions about the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defenses and ways to counter such new types of weapons.
Lack of solutions to counter
In conclusion, Mikula noted that he is not aware of any effective ideas or strategies to combat such drones, which emphasizes the need for new developments and solutions to counter modern threats.
