On August 26, Ukraine again fell victim to massive rocket fire from the occupiers. One of the targets of the attack was the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), located near Vyshgorod. Published videos from the scene show a fire and destruction on the station's territory.
Despite this destruction, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation assured that there is no threat of a missile strike on the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant. According to him, further destruction or serious damage to the plant is impossible.
"A missile strike on the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant cannot cause critical damage, as was the case with the Kherson region, where an explosion occurred from within. Russian forces are using this situation to create information noise and incite panic," the head of the Center noted.
He explained that the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant has design features that ensure its resistance to such attacks. Missiles, even if they hit certain parts of the plant, are not capable of causing catastrophic consequences similar to those that occurred in the Kherson region.
Currently, Ukrainian experts continue to assess the extent of the damage and take measures to eliminate the consequences of the attack. At the same time, false reports and information manipulations spread by Russian sources are trying to influence the morale of the population and create additional tension.
