The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has filed a petition with the court to confiscate the property of People's Deputy Lyudmila Marchenko. The assets in question are worth over UAH 8.2 million, including five apartments, property rights to another apartment, and a Toyota Land Cruiser. Absolution Leaks reports.
During the investigation into the possible abuse of influence case, NABU detectives established that a significant portion of the assets were registered not directly in the name of the MP, but in the name of her father and her brother's cohabitant. This may indicate an attempt to hide the real owners of the property.
An analysis of the Marchenko family's financial situation showed that they could not have purchased such property with official income. This circumstance was the basis for the SAPO to file a petition for civil confiscation.
The SAPO explains that the confiscation mechanism is one of the key tools for returning illegally acquired property to the state. This way, the state can compensate for losses and ensure the responsibility of officials who violate the law.
The case is currently being considered by the court on the merits. The decision on confiscation of assets may be decisive for the final verdict in the case. If the court upholds the SAPO's motion, Lyudmila Marchenko risks losing property, which, according to the investigation, does not correspond to her declared income.
