The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to declare assets unfounded and confiscate them as state revenue. This concerns property used by the current People's Deputy of Ukraine. This was reported by the National Agency for Corruption Prevention.
The basis for the lawsuit was the results of monitoring the official's lifestyle, conducted by the NACP, as well as evidence collected by the SAPO prosecutor within his own competence. According to the Agency, during 2020–2021, the deputy's unofficial drivers and representatives of a private company associated with him purchased three premium cars for private ownership. After the purchase, all three cars were actually used by the MP himself.
These are the following vehicles:
— Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (2020 year),
— BMW 730LD (2020 year),
— BMW X5 (2020 year).
The total value of these assets is over 8.6 million hryvnias.
According to the NACP, the official even had official permission to enter the territory of the Verkhovna Rada in one of these cars. An analysis of the income of the deputy, his family members, and related persons showed that legal income does not allow for the purchase of such vehicles.
In this regard, the NACP concluded that the cars are unfounded assets within the meaning of the law and are subject to civil confiscation.
According to Article 290 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine, such assets may be seized in favor of the state by decision of the Supreme Court of Ukraine. The SAPO requests the court to apply this mechanism.
