The High Anti-Corruption Court granted the claim of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and seized a 2023 Audi Q7 worth about UAH 4.2 million in favor of the state. According to prosecutors, this car was actually used by the mayor of Sambora in the Lviv region, Yuriy Gamar, although in official documents the vehicle was registered to his daughter, Tatyana Moskvyak.
SAPO prosecutors argued that neither Gamar nor his relatives had legal income sufficient to purchase such a car, and provided evidence in court that the mayor was the one who used the vehicle after the purchase. When NABU and SAPO began checking the origin of the car, according to the investigation, they tried to re-register it to a third party in order to complicate tracking the traces of the asset's acquisition.
The court agreed with the prosecutor's position and declared the asset illegal for private ownership, applying the mechanism of civil confiscation — a tool that allows the state to collect property acquired without proven legal income. The decision states that the car becomes the property of the state.
This decision caused a public outcry and became another example of the use of anti-corruption mechanisms against officials. However, immediately after the public information, analysts and human rights activists drew attention to Yuriy Gamar's updated declaration: it recorded the purchase of another Audi Q7, already manufactured in 2025, worth almost UAH 4.9 million.
The presence of a new expensive car in the declaration raised additional questions about the sources of income and the transparency of the official's expenses. Representatives of public organizations called on law enforcement agencies to check the circumstances of the purchase of the second Audi and, if necessary, take measures in accordance with the law. The city hall itself had not received any official comments on the new entry in the declaration as of the time of publication.
