The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed and detained another agent of the Russian Federation's special services, who was working in one of the hottest areas of the front - in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region.
According to the investigation, the 52-year-old resident of a frontline village was recruited by Russian agents through his relative, who lives in the Russian Federation and is already cooperating with the occupation regime. The agent's main task was to identify the combat positions of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and transmit the exact coordinates for further strikes by the Russian army.
To accomplish the task, the man personally patrolled the area near the front line, recording the location of Ukrainian artillery and mortar units. He also tried to gain the trust of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by asking them about the movement of equipment, ammunition, and logistical routes, supposedly under the guise of casual conversations.
The information provided included coordinates of ammunition depots, supply routes, and locations of Ukrainian armored vehicles. In return for his "work," the agent received a promise of evacuation to Russia and a "safe life" in territory controlled by the aggressor.
The SBU documented his actions and detained him in Kamiansky, Dnipropetrovsk region.
The man has now been charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason under martial law. He has been taken into custody. If found guilty, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
