In Vinnytsia, the Security Service of Ukraine foiled a terrorist attack planned by a group of Russian GRU agents. The attackers — two women from Kyiv region and a resident of Vinnytsia — acted on instructions from Moscow and intended to blow up a Ukrainian military car and later the building of the local police department.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
The investigation established that the enemy planned to eliminate the Ukrainian soldier using a remotely controlled explosive device. The improvised explosive device (IED), disguised as a thermos, was supposed to be triggered after a call was made to a connected mobile phone.
While one of the agents was making a SVP and filling it with screws for maximum damage, the others were preparing the crime scene. It was during the installation of a surveillance camera near the facility that the saboteurs fell into the hands of counterintelligence.
Two women from the Kyiv region were recruited via Telegram, where they were offered "quick money" for completing specific tasks. After recruitment, Russian handlers sent them to Vinnytsia, where they rented an apartment at their expense. After that, they were given the coordinates of a cache, from where the women took two improvised explosive devices.
A 33-year-old local resident was also involved in the case - he was the one who was involved in the technical production of explosives. On the instructions of the curators, he prepared the filling for the terrorist attack.
After blowing up the car with the soldier, the occupiers were preparing a second act — this time near the police administration building. But at this stage, counterintelligence was already acting proactively: three suspects were detained, and the SVP was seized.
All those involved have already been charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason under martial law. The penalty is life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
During the searches, they found phones with correspondence with representatives of Russian special services, as well as the devices themselves, ready for use.
