The Security Service of Ukraine has detained Oleksandr Smyk, the first deputy head of the Solomyansk district state administration of Kyiv, for involvement in a mobilization evasion scheme. This was reported by the SBU and confirmed by sources in law enforcement agencies.
According to the investigation, the official forged documents for the fictitious enrollment of citizens into military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After that, they were removed from military registration using fake medical diagnoses. For each such service, the attacker received from 15 to 20 thousand dollars.
To implement the scheme, Smyk used connections in the district territorial procurement center and an accomplice who prepared forged documents. The SBU documented the illegal activity and detained both participants in the scheme.
Law enforcement officers are continuing the investigation, identifying all the individuals involved and the scale of the transaction.
