The prosecutor of the district prosecutor's office was detained in Lviv, suspected of extorting a bribe of $ 5,000. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the official promised the local residents to help avoid criminal liability for suspicion of fraud worth about 400 thousand hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers detained the prosecutor "on hot" during the transfer of undue benefit. He was already suspected of Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - extortion and receipt of a bribe by an official.
The case is investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation for Prompt Supporting Service of Ukraine. In the near future, the court should choose a suspected preventive measure.
Under the incriminated article, the official faces five to ten years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to occupy positions in state bodies.
