The Security Service of Ukraine has announced a new suspicion against former MP Viktor Medvedchuk, accusing him of complicity in a crime related to the privatization of the state-owned oil pipeline "Samara-Western Direction" and with a direct hint of complicity in the crime of Petro Poroshenko.
This pipeline has been the subject of legal and political disputes since the collapse of the USSR, and now, according to the SBU, Medvedchuk acted in coordination with the top political leadership of Ukraine and Russia.
This is a criminal case regarding the privatization of the state-owned oil pipeline "Samara-Western Direction" in 2015.
The SBU states that Medvedchuk acted "in clear coordination with the then top political leadership of Ukraine and Russia.".
According to the investigation, in 2014-2015, the Appellate and Supreme Economic Courts ruled on Ukraine's right to own the pipeline, which remained in the ownership of Russia after the collapse of the USSR.
However, with the support of the then top leadership of Ukraine, Medvedchuk managed to overturn this decision through the Rivne Commercial Court and formalize the sale of the oil product pipeline to a Swiss company, which is actually controlled by the participants in the scheme.
In addition to Medvedchuk, four top managers of Prykarpatzakhidtrans have been suspected. The full circle of individuals, including the former president of Ukraine, involved in this illegal transaction is currently being established.
