The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, achieved the return of almost 100 hectares of agricultural land in the territory of Kyiv region. As it turned out, the land was owned by Russian citizens who inherited it before the start of a full -scale war.
According to the SBU, foreigners-in particular citizens of the aggressor state-have no right to own agricultural lands in Ukraine. According to the law, such areas should be alienated within one year. These requirements were not fulfilled.
As part of the inspection of databases of the State Geocadastre, special service staff found that at least 176 citizens of the Russian Federation were illegally owned. After that, the law enforcement officers initiated the procedure for termination of their ownership and transfer to the state.
To date, all seized areas have already been registered with the State Geocadastre. The operation was followed in accordance with the current legal procedures and ended without complications.
As emphasized in the SBU, the return of land is not only a matter of legality, but also an important step in counteracting the influence of the aggressor country in Ukraine. The control over the observance of land legislation will be strengthened, especially in regions where cases of foreign ownership of agricultural land have previously been recorded.
