On August 21, 2024, it became known about the conduct of a large-scale special operation by the SBU, which included more than 20 simultaneous searches of employees of territorial recruitment centers and social medical expert commissions (VLK) throughout the Zakarpattia region.
Journalist Vitaliy Glagola reported that the objects of the searches include the Khust CCC and the military commissar Vasyl Zubatov. The SBU is checking the activities of local medical institutions and CCCs, where commissions for men liable for military service are held. One of the reasons for the checks is suspicions of receiving bribes from persons trying to avoid military service through false disability documents.
"Sources report that money was found in the possession of the head of the VLK in Khust, Yuri Medvid, which was given as a bribe," Glagola noted.
The head of the Transcarpathian regional military administration, Viktor Mykyta, commented on the situation, stating that the special operation by law enforcement officers aims to expose and detain officials who use their official position for personal enrichment, jeopardizing the country's defense capability. Mykyta emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and that anyone who tries to profit from blood will be punished within the limits of the law.
"The cynicism of these people is striking. This is collaborationism and direct opposition to the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I thank law enforcement officers for their professional and effective work. The security sector of the region works to prevent, detect and stop crimes," Mykyta emphasized.
Bribes for "fake" disability
One of the main episodes of the investigation is related to receiving bribes for fake disability documents. The cost of such services was about 6 thousand dollars. It is known that the military commissar Vasily Zubatov, who previously got into a scandal for wearing a T-shirt with the symbols of the USSR, is also a figure in this investigation.
Currently, almost 30 searches are underway in district hospitals, medical and social expert commissions, and CCC employees, which indicates the seriousness of the corruption problem in the region.
