The SBU has established that the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy worked for Russian special services for over a year. According to the investigation, Mykhailo Stselnikov was recruited in Lviv and received tasks from the enemy, including collecting information about the locations of Ukrainian military personnel and the movement of railway trains with fuel.
Later, the Russian special services assigned him a more difficult task - to eliminate the people's deputy, former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy. The agent received funding to prepare the crime, monitored the politician's schedule and routes, and also thought out a plan to escape abroad after carrying out the "order".
However, law enforcement officers managed to prevent an escape attempt: the attacker was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region. He was charged with high treason committed under martial law. Under this article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
At the same time, the investigation previously qualified the crime as an attempt on the life of a people's deputy in connection with his state activities.
