The Security Service of Ukraine prevented the undermining of a military facility in Zaporozhye, which was planned to make Russian agents on the anniversary of the SBU. The saboteurs managed to detain due to the special operation of Ukrainian special services.
According to the SBU, two young men aged 18 and 19, who were recruited by Russian special services through telegram channels, were detained. They rented the building opposite the military unit and installed a webcam to monitor the facility. Their purpose was to undermine the checkpoint of the defense complex.
During the searches, they seized components for the manufacture of a homemade explosive device, mobile phones with evidence of cooperation with Russian curators and equipment for tracking. The attackers planned the remote blasting, and all the data obtained were transmitted to Russia.
Ukrainian counterintelligence disrupted the plans of the Russians on the day when the attack was to take place. The detainees have now raised suspicion of the articles "State betrayal" and "Preparation for a terrorist act". They are threatened with life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
The special operation was conducted by SBU staff under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office. The department emphasizes that the Russian Federation continues to recruit young people through online platforms, offering them fast money for espionage and sabotage.
