The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) exposed two women in the Chernihiv region who acted for the benefit of Russian military intelligence. According to the SBU, the suspects in the case were residents of the Prylutsky district, who were recruited by the Russian special service through Telegram channels, looking for "quick money." Their main task was to collect and transmit the coordinates of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions.
To ensure the conspiracy of communication with the Russian curator, the agents communicated through the accounts of their relatives. They also planned to install hidden video cameras near Defense Force facilities to transmit intelligence. The traitors also aimed to determine the movement routes and positions of mobile fire groups that protect the airspace of northern Ukraine.
Thanks to the timely work of the SBU counterintelligence, the agents were detained before they had time to purchase the necessary video surveillance devices. During the search, mobile phones with evidence of their work for the Russian GRU were seized from the detainees. Both women were notified of suspicion under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason under martial law).
They are now in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
