Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who was preparing terrorist attacks in Poltava region. According to the investigation, a 30-year-old woman who was looking for "easy earnings" in online casino, got into the field of view of Russian special services and was published to perform sabotage tasks.
According to the SBU, the agent planned to carry out explosions near the local regional police department and the city territorial center of acquisition (military enlistment office). The terrorist act was supposed to take place at a peak hour, and a homemade explosive device (SVP) was intended to be masked in a household kettle, supplementing the affected elements and electronic remote module.
"At the time of mines, the invaders planned to blow up the explosives with their agent," the SBU regional administration reported.
The malefactor has already received instructions from the curator from the Russian Federation, as well as the rental funds for a "conspiratorial" apartment and the purchase of materials for SVP. However, thanks to the operational actions of the intelligence services, the terrorist attack was warned.
During the searches, the suspect seized the components of an explosive device and a mobile phone with evidence of contact with a representative of the Russian special services.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, the woman was suspected of several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: preparation for a terrorist act on a prior conspiracy by a group of persons and illegal storage of explosives (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258, Part 1 of Article 263).
The investigation is ongoing. Special services emphasize the growth of the activity of Russian recruitment campaigns on social networks, messengers and online casinos, which are used as platforms for the selection of vulnerable persons.
