The Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained a lawyer who demanded $1 million from a citizen for assistance in solving the land issue. This was reported by the SBU press service.
According to the SBU, Sukhanov acted in collusion with the capital's officials, promising $1 million to help with the lease of a plot of land on the Dnipro embankment in Natalka Park. He guaranteed the client a positive decision through the Kyiv City State Administration.
According to sources, the lawyer turned out to be Oleksandr Sukhanov, a part-time leader of the UDAR party in the Odesa region.
The law enforcement officers detained the lawyer in the act of receiving the first tranche of $900,000.
An investigation aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the case and possible accomplices is underway. Sukhanov faces criminal liability for receiving large amounts of illegal benefits.
