The Security Service of Ukraine detained a former official of the Kupyan City Council who, after the occupation of the community, voluntarily joined the local occupation administration of Russia. According to the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office, the collaborator actively supported the enemy during the occupation of Kupyansk.
In his "position" he was responsible for the "reconstruction" of buildings destroyed by Russian troops. However, according to the information of the Prosecutor General's Office, these works were only of a formal nature, since the restoration of buildings was carried out only on paper to create propaganda plots. The goal is to demonstrate to local residents that Russia allegedly "cares about people", despite the destruction it itself has caused.
After the liberation of Kupyansk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the collaborator fled to Kharkiv, where he obtained the status of an internally displaced person and rented housing. However, law enforcement officers found him and detained him. He was charged with collaborative activity (Part 2 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This case is not isolated. The SBU together with the National Police continue to effectively identify and neutralize collaborators and saboteurs operating on the territory of Ukraine. Recently, a subversive group was detained in Chernihiv Oblast, which, on the order of the Russian special services, tried to destroy the facilities of "Ukrzaliznytsia" in the border areas.
