The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported the detention of the director of control and audit work of the state-owned enterprise Energoatom on suspicion of corruption. According to law enforcement officials, the official demanded and received "kickbacks" from suppliers of goods and services, which raised serious concerns about the integrity and transparency of the state-owned enterprise.
This is stated in a statement by the SBU press service. We are talking about Oleksandr Skopych, Director of Audit and Compliance at Energoatom.
It is documented in the criminal proceedings that in exchange for a "tribute" of 15 percent of the contract amount, he promised suppliers accelerated payment for the relevant contract.
The perpetrator was caught red-handed when he received UAH 100,000 from a supplier of fuels and lubricants that supplies a state-owned enterprise that mines uranium.
Currently, SBU investigators have informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of influence).
The exposure was carried out by employees of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
A preventive measure has been chosen for an official of JSC NNEGC Energoatom, who was detained for taking a bribe. The press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported this.
