The National Police has decided to disband the special forces regiment of the Main Police Department in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This information was announced by the Deputy Head of the National Police, Oleksandr Fatsevych.
On February 4, a video appeared online showing police officers discussing the possibility of being transferred to the Lut assault brigade. This initiative was met with rejection by the special forces, but they were ready to participate in combat operations.
Fatsevich explained that since the beginning of the war, police officers, including special forces units, have been actively involved in the defense of Ukraine. This served as the basis for:
- disbandment of the special forces regiment of the Main Police Department in the Dnipropetrovsk region;
- transfer of all special forces of the regiment to the assault brigade of the National Police "Lyut" in accordance with Article 65 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police of Ukraine".
"Those who refuse to join "Lyut" will be released upon serving summonses," Fatsevich added.
The National Police also noted that in 2023, amendments were made to the law "On the National Police", according to which special police officers can participate in combat operations directly.
Despite the additional functions that law enforcement officers have received since the start of the war, special forces remain an important component in the fight against threats. They demonstrate their dedication every day and remain true to their oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people.
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the mobile fire team training center during a working trip to the Dnipropetrovsk region.
