A large-scale corruption scheme has been uncovered in Bukovina, in which, according to the prosecutor's office, nine officials were involved. They are suspected of abuse of office, embezzlement of budget funds, selling grain at low prices, illegal mining, and fraud with public procurement. The total amount of losses to the state is almost UAH 23 million.
Among those involved are heads of municipal enterprises, educational institutions, and territorial communities. The largest losses are associated with the illegal disposal of land and undervalued prices for agricultural products.
Thus, the acting director of the Bukovyna State Agricultural Research Station of the NAAS of Ukraine (according to the institution, Leonid Tomash) is suspected of selling grain at prices below market prices, causing losses of over UAH 5.2 million.
The director of the Sokyrian City Council's municipal enterprise is involved in a case of illegal limestone mining and embezzlement of budget funds - the losses were estimated at UAH 5 million.
The former head of the Khotynskyi National Enterprise misappropriated part of the funds by paying bonuses to his subordinates - losses of over 385 thousand UAH.
The deputy head of the Lviv branch of the State Geocadastre withdrew land plots from municipal ownership using forged documents - the state lost over 10 million UAH.
The head of the Chudeyska community, Anatoliy Pitsul, admitted to embezzling UAH 866,000 during the construction of a football field.
A deputy of the Zastavniv City Council, who temporarily headed the education department, admitted to wasting 280 thousand UAH on the renovation of the catering unit.
Volodymyr Khromyuk, the director of the Kitsman Multi-Profile Hospital, purchased air conditioners at inflated prices — losses of UAH 370,000.
Mykola Makarevich, director of the Hlybotskyi vocational school, embezzled over UAH 320,000 during the renovation of the dormitory.
The former head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration overestimated the cost of work on bank fortification of the Cheremosh River - 430 thousand UAH of losses.
All suspects face up to 8 years in prison. The prosecutor's office is already preparing a motion for preventive measures and the suspension of officials from work. The investigation is ongoing.
