We've all been glued to short videos of cute kittens or playful puppies at least once. But few people have thought that such a habit can have a real positive effect on health. Scientists from the University of Leeds in the UK have proven that watching such videos helps reduce anxiety levels and normalize blood pressure.
The study involved volunteers who were shown a selection of videos and photos of cute animals — including baby gorillas, kittens, and dogs. The participants then completed a questionnaire and a medical examination.
The results were impressive: on average, anxiety levels dropped by 35%, and blood pressure in many people came close to normal. Interestingly, the best effect was achieved by videos where animals interacted with people - for example, when a dog jumps into the owner's arms or a kitten cuddles with a child.
The authors of the study did not hide that they themselves enjoyed participating in the experiment. They even suggested that regularly watching videos with animals could be used as a simple and affordable way to improve your psycho-emotional state.
So if you're tired, irritated, or just want to take a break, turn on a cute animal video. Not only will it lift your mood, but it can actually improve your well-being.
