Seasonal epidemic: In a week more than 206 thousand Ukrainians were ill with influenza and SARS

flu patients and acute respiratory viral infections (SARS) is increasing . According to official data, 206 thousand people became ill February 10 and 16 , with 60% of them children .

This was reported by the Ministry of Health.

According to the Ministry of Health, the spread of influenza virus was recorded in 21 region of the country. Experts predict that by April, the flu will be the main cause of seasonal respiratory diseases, exceeding the prevalence of coronavirus infection.

During the week, 206 653 people were ill with SARS, influenza and Covid-19, including 60%. Severe complications have led to hospitalization 2 130 adults and 3 276 children.

Due to the threat of an epidemic in 16 regions, anti -epidemic measures are partially introduced. In each region, the decisions will be made by regional commissions on technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies (TEB and NA).

In particular, possible:

  • Transfer of schools to distance learning - both individual classes and the entire educational institution;
  • Limiting the number of visitors in public places - libraries, museums, cinemas, shopping centers, etc.;
  • Introduction of mask regime in health and public transport institutions;
  • Strengthening of disinfection measures in schools, offices, commercial establishments.

These measures are intended to contain the spread of infection and stabilize the epidemic.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that annual vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza and Covid-19. It is possible to be vaccinated not only at the beginning, but also throughout the epidemic.

As of February 16, 109,913 Ukrainians were made against influenza. Influenza vaccine is available in pharmacies, and COVID-19 vaccinations can be obtained in medical facilities across the country.

Experts recommend that citizens carefully adhere to hygiene, avoid places of accumulation of people and at the first symptoms of the disease consult a doctor.
