Breakfast should be not only satisfying but also safe for the stomach. But not all the usual morning dishes are really useful. According to German gastroenterologist Stephen Hillyan, some products are better completely excluded from the morning menu - otherwise it can be triggered by digestive and acidity problems.
1. Yeast baking
croissants, buns and other yeast dough dishes are not the best choice for an empty stomach. Yeast irritates the mucous membrane and can cause bloating or flatulence. If you really want sweet, it is better to eat baking later - after the main meal.
2. Tomatoes
tomatoes contain tannins that increase the acidity. This threatens the unpleasant feeling of completeness, discomfort or stomach pain. Particularly cautious should be people with gastritis or high acidity.
3. Citrus
oranges, lemons and grapefruits are a source of vitamin C, but on an empty stomach can be harmful. High acidity irritates the esophagus and gastric mucosa. The alternative is light berries or fruits with a lower acid content.
4. Black coffee
popular morning drink can harm if you drink it on an empty stomach. Coffee stimulates the secretion of gastric juice, and without food for its neutralization, it irritates the stomach. Add some milk is an easy way to reduce the acidity.
5. Bat drinks
even a glass of sparkling water or juice with bubbles in the morning is a bad idea. Phosphoric acid and carbon dioxide disrupt the balance in the digestive system, can slow down the digestion of food and even cause constipation.
If your stomach is sensitive, it is better not to risk it. Breakfast should not only be useful but also safe - choose products that do not provoke excess acidity, irritation or discomfort.
