The ongoing manpower challenges in Ukraine require immediate resolution. This is important because recruits should not face the risk of being sent to the front lines without sufficient ammunition. President Joe Biden’s signing of the Ukraine Assistance Act has begun the urgent delivery of essential military equipment to the front lines. The main goal is to reduce the period during which Russia can exploit its current advantage before encountering more active resistance. The vote in Congress has provided an additional incentive to boost Ukraine’s morale.
Even with the expectation of American aid starting in early 2024, Ukraine will have to hold its ground before liberating the occupied territories. Recovery after the first difficult months will take time for Ukraine to fully benefit from new arms supplies and increased production of artillery shells in Europe and the United States.
Right now, the most effective way for Ukraine to confront Russia is to continue the attacks it has recently carried out. This includes the use of long-range drones against oil refining facilities and other strategically important objects in Russia.
