In Kyiv, even in the worst-case scenarios of the winter season, boiler rooms, hospitals, and pump rooms will continue to operate, Kyiv City Council deputy Oleh Kostyushko assured on Kyiv24. He noted that critical facilities, such as boiler rooms and hospitals, will not be disconnected from the power supply if there is a technical possibility for their operation.
Kosciuszko emphasized that the main boiler houses and water supply units are equipped with additional equipment, generators and have a certain level of protection. Even in the absence of electricity, these facilities will be able to function on alternative power sources.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko also focused on the city's active preparation for the heating season. He reported that the capital's authorities will compensate 75% of the cost of alternative power sources and energy-efficient equipment for condominiums and housing associations. Hydraulic tests of heating networks have been conducted in Kyiv since mid-May.
Klitschko said that the city authorities plan to repair more than 150 heat sources and 200 boilers, as well as pumping equipment. All boiler rooms that allow their capacity are already equipped with generators, and specialists are working on equipping more powerful heat sources with generators. In addition, more than 50 mobile mini-boilers will be placed in the city, which will provide heat to social facilities, hospitals and maternity hospitals.
