Under martial law, Ukrainian pensioners run the risk of blocking their bank accounts. The reason may be utility arrears.
According to lawyers, the executive service has the right to seize debtors' accounts, even if they receive a pension, subsidy or other social payments. The law does not explicitly prohibits such actions during the war.
It is important to carefully monitor the reports from the executive service and respond on time to avoid locking the pension card.
How to Unlock the Account:
-
Confirm the target use of the card. It is necessary to take the bank and the Pension Fund of the certificate that the account is used solely for pension payments and submit them to the contractor with a statement of arrest.
-
Settle the debt. You can agree on debt restructuring or partial repayment with utilities, then seek a subsidy to the Pension Fund.
It is worth remembering that the very fact of arrest does not mean writing off a pension - the funds remain in the account, but their use will be restricted until the issue is resolved.
