On June 28, Ukraine celebrates one of the main state holidays - Constitution Day. It was on this day of 1996 that, after the sleepless night, the Verkhovna Rada approved the basic law of the country, consolidating its sovereignty, territorial integrity, rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as the principles of democratic system.
This year the Constitution Day is on Friday. Despite the fact that in peacetime it is an official weekend, additional weekends were canceled during martial law.

On the new calendar, Orthodox and Greek Catholics honor the transfer of the relics of the holy imbumpes of Cyrus and Ivan. These are early Christian martyrs who became famous as free healers that helped people not for the sake of reward, but for the sake of faith. The transfer of relics took place in the 5th century from the canompus to the newly built temple in Manutis on the initiative of St. Cyril of Alexandria.

What else happened on June 28
History knows many important events related to this date. In 1389 the Battle of Kosov took place. In 1569, the Union of Lublin was signed, which started the Commonwealth. In 1914, Franz Ferdinanda, a formal beginning of the First World War, was attempted in Sarajevo. And in 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed, which completed that war.
Also on this day, Ukrainian singer Artem Pivovarov, tennis player Marta Kostyuk and a constitutionalist lawyer Yuri Barabash were born. The mascot of the day is considered a nephritis stone - a symbol of spirituality, strength and longevity.
