What is known about the transfer of the Mirage to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

French Mirage fighters, in a positive scenario, may enter service with the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as early as January-February 2025. This was reported by Defense Express , analyzing the prospects for accelerating the transfer of aircraft from France.

Currently, it is known that six Mirage fighters will be delivered to Ukraine in the first batch. The transfer is expected in the first quarter of 2025, although it could be delayed until the end of March, according to French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu. However, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, after a conversation with Emmanuel Macron, said that the transfer process could be accelerated.

It will be recalled that the French president expressed his readiness to strengthen Ukrainian air defense and provide comprehensive defense assistance. This decision is important for Ukraine, which continues to defend itself against constant attacks by Russian aircraft and missile terror.

However, as noted by Defense Express , practice shows that in such large-scale processes, deadlines are more often shifted "to the right" than "to the left". However, even the most optimistic forecasts indicate that Mirage aircraft will become an important element of strengthening the Air Force of the Armed Forces in 2025.

Mirages are modern fighters capable of performing a wide range of combat missions, including the destruction of air and ground targets. Their supply will allow not only to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, but also contribute to the harmonization of the Air Force with NATO standards.

Delivering six fighter jets is just the beginning. After the first batch, France may hand over other aircraft, depending on the situation at the front and the Ukrainian side's readiness to integrate them into the existing defense system. Meanwhile, Ukraine is actively training its pilots and technical personnel to ensure maximum efficiency in the use of new equipment.

The transfer of the Mirage is not only military aid, but also a political signal of France's solidarity with Ukraine. Against the background of ongoing aggression from Russia, such support helps to strengthen the international coalition around Ukraine and confirms the readiness of Western partners to help Kyiv on the way to victory.
