Law enforcement agencies will investigate an incident in which border guards shot a man who was trying to illegally cross the state border, Tetyana Sapyan, communications advisor to the State Bureau of Investigation, said in a telethon.
She noted that the border guard now faces up to 10 years in prison if the article of the charge is not changed.
"We will be able to learn more details about why this situation happened, whether it could have been avoided, and other circumstances of this incident a little later. The only thing I can say is: if this qualifies under this article, then it provides for a serious punishment - up to 10 years in prison," the message says.
