Russian occupation forces continue their aggressive offensive in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region, in particular, the city of Chasiv Yar. At the moment, according to Andrii Polukhin, a representative of the press service of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, the Russians control about 40% of the city, including the territory up to the Canal.
This control has serious tactical implications. If the occupiers can fully capture Chasiv Yar, they will gain a strategic advantage on the heights, which will allow them to control and influence key cities of Donetsk region such as Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka and Kramatorsk. In addition, they will have the opportunity to block important logistical routes between these settlements, which can significantly complicate the defense of Ukrainian forces and contribute to the further advance of the Russians.
Currently, the city of Chasiv Yar is almost completely destroyed, similar to the situations that developed in Avdiivka and Bakhmut after the Russian attacks. As Andrii Polukhin noted, the enemy does not spare these territories, turning them into ruins, which shows complete indifference to the preservation of infrastructure and human lives.
The capture of Chasovoy Yar could be a significant step in the plans of Russian forces to fully control the Donetsk region within its administrative boundaries. Earlier, the press officer of the 26th artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleg Kalashnikov, confirmed that the enemy does not stop trying to advance in the area of the city, carrying out assaults every day.
The front line currently runs along the Siverskyi Donets Canal, and daily attacks by small infantry groups indicate that the enemy is trying to gain a foothold on the other side of the canal to further develop its assault potential.
