The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate 1.8 billion hryvnias to support 180 communities located in frontline regions. These are settlements in nine regions that regularly suffer from Russian shelling.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, emphasizing that this concerns the urgent needs of communities that found themselves in the line of fire.
Communities from the following regions will receive financial support:
-
Kharkiv
-
Sumy
-
Donetsk
-
Luhansk
-
Kherson
-
Mykolaivskaya
-
Dnipropetrovsk
-
Zaporizhzhia regions
A total of 180 territorial communities were included in the list.
The money will be directed to four key areas, each of which is critically important for the lives of people in high-risk areas:
-
Emergency recovery work after shelling and attacks
-
Construction of shelters in schools, hospitals and residential areas
-
Procurement of special equipment for municipal services - generators, debris clearance equipment, water tankers
-
Repair of critical infrastructure, including heating networks and gas supply
This is not the first allocation of funds under the program to support frontline territories. However, the scale of this tranche is one of the largest since the beginning of 2024.
Many frontline communities like Kupyansk, Nikopol, or Ochakiv have been living in extremely difficult conditions for a long time — daily airstrikes, destroyed homes, lack of basic protection. Without centralized support, they will not be able to recover on their own.
As noted by the Ministry of Regional Development, the distribution of funds was based on requests from the communities themselves, as well as data on damage to infrastructure facilities.
