Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal called on international donors for an urgent meeting due to the "high level of uncertainty" in the country's finances.
In his letter to the Interagency Coordination Group of Donors, which monitors the use of funds, Shmyhal emphasized the need for funding next month aimed at solving Ukraine's main financial needs. "To ensure macroeconomic stability, it is extremely important to have sufficient, quick and predictable external financial support, starting from January 2024," the letter emphasized.
According to Shmyhal, the Multi-Donor Coordination Platform (MDCP) should focus on immediate budgetary needs, in particular, providing support to the government for social benefits, payments to teachers and civil servants. "We cannot consider reconstruction projects when we have to decide on the survival priorities for 2024," the head of government added.
It is currently unknown how the recipients reacted to the letter and whether they agreed to an urgent meeting.
