The Government of Ukraine has declared its readiness to contact the Verkhovna Rada if necessary to increase the financing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the second half of the year.
Prime Minister Denis Shmigal has informed about it during an hour of questions to the government in parliament. According to him, if the military command submits a reasonable need for additional financing, the government, together with the Ministry of Finance, will consider it and submit an appropriate proposal to the Verkhovna Rada.
"If there is a need for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then we all carefully translate their calculations, check with the Ministry of Finance, and turn to Parliament as needed for the amount of support for the Armed Forces," Shmigal said.
In his turn, the Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko stressed that it is a matter of out -of -plan expenses, which are caused by the needs of wartime, in particular for the purchase of weapons and equipment. According to him, these expenditures will be covered with internal resources of the state.
"But in any way we do not provide for tax increases," the minister added.
All decisions on possible budget revision are expected to be made taking into account the real needs of the Armed Forces and available financial resources.
