In Ukraine, a court sentenced to 15 years in prison an FSB agent who operated in Zaporizhzhia under the guise of a volunteer. A woman who worked under the operational pseudonym "007" spied for Russia, gathering intelligence on the positions of the Ukrainian military.
The perpetrator turned out to be a resident of the temporarily occupied Pologiv district of the Zaporizhzhia region. During her stay in the occupation, she was recruited by representatives of the FSB. She was sent to Zaporizhzhia under the guise of a volunteer so that she could freely contact the military and the collection of data would not arouse suspicion.
The task of the agent
The main goal of the spy was to establish connections with Ukrainian defenders. Under the guise of charitable activities, she collected information about:
- location of headquarters and fortified areas;
- fire positions of the Armed Forces;
- movement of military equipment.
She transferred the collected data to the Russian curator through an anonymous messenger, receiving new tasks.
The woman was detained in September 2022, when she was actively collecting information about the military bases of the Defense Forces in the region. Thanks to the measures taken by the SBU, it was possible to prevent the transfer of sensitive data that could be used for enemy attacks.
Trial and verdict
The court found the woman guilty of treason under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
This case once again demonstrates the importance of being vigilant about suspicious individuals, even if they are acting under the guise of volunteers. Thanks to the professional work of the SBU, it was possible to neutralize another threat to the Ukrainian military.
