Changes to the e-Housing program have been launched in Ukraine, allowing internally displaced persons who left their homes due to the war to purchase housing up to 10 years old. This was announced by Olena Shulyak, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning.
The new initiative applies to housing located in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. Previously, the e-Housing program in these regions allowed only housing that was no older than three years old. These restrictions significantly reduced the opportunities for displaced people seeking to find new housing.
Under the new conditions, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and their first-degree family members can purchase housing that was put into operation no earlier than 10 years before the date of conclusion of the contract. This was made possible by amendments to the terms of affordable mortgage lending for citizens of Ukraine under the e-Housing program.
Shulyak noted that the government has left the norm regarding the age of housing in Kyiv unchanged. In the capital, the e-Housing program continues to operate with a restriction: housing cannot be older than three years. This aspect also requires further refinement.
