Sweden will not transfer Gripen aircraft to Ukraine

Sweden has decided not to transfer Gripen fighters to Ukraine, preferring to supply F-16s.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Sweden, Peter Hultqvist, commenting on the government's latest decisions regarding support for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing conflict with Russia.

"Other coalition countries urged us to wait with the Gripen system. This is due to the fact that now the main attention is paid to the implementation of the F-16 system, - Paul Yunson is quoted as saying by Reuters.

Negotiations with Ukraine on the possibility of transferring Gripen began last year. Ukrainians even started training on them.
