Ukrainian singer and actress, Honored Artist of Ukraine Antonina Matvienko reported a physical attack that occurred to her during a taxi ride. The incident occurred on June 30 in Kyiv, Pechersk, at around 3:00 p.m. According to the artist, the Bolt driver first hit her in the head and then in the shoulder.
Matvienko wrote about this on Instagram, adding that she contacted the police:
"The driver got out of the car and hit me first in the head and then in the shoulder. I contacted law enforcement. This day was a humiliation and shock for me."
Kyiv police confirmed the attack. According to law enforcement, a conflict arose between the passenger and the driver, which escalated into physical violence. After the incident, the driver left the scene, but investigators were able to quickly identify him and detain him. The attacker turned out to be a 63-year-old local resident.
Criminal proceedings have been opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — beatings and torture. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
Taxi platform Bolt has not yet publicly commented on the incident.
