People's Artist of Ukraine Ivo Bobul has once again found himself at the center of a scandal due to his public statements. In an interview he gave in Russian, the singer unexpectedly spoke about former President Viktor Yanukovych, making a number of controversial statements.
Bobul called Yanukovych a "workaholic" and emphasized that, according to him, he came from a working class background and "sincerely loved his family." The artist also noted that Yanukovych supposedly achieved everything through his own labor.
In addition, the singer recalled the period when he traveled with concerts to events in support of the then president. According to Bobul, he personally saw the "popular love" for Yanukovych and is convinced that he had significant support among Ukrainians.
At the same time, Ivo Bobul placed the responsibility for the fall of former president not on Yanukovych himself, but on his entourage, which, according to the artist, had a negative and detrimental influence.
These statements came against the backdrop of Bobul's previous high-profile statements, in particular regarding other artists who left Ukraine after the start of the full-scale war and are working in Russia. The interview sparked lively discussion on social media and a mixed reaction from the audience.
