On June 8, gossip blogger Bohdan Bespalov posted a video on Instagram that instantly sparked a wave of reactions. In the video, he claimed that Max Barsky allegedly had an “affair” with his boyfriend in a car on the way to Odessa — all in front of the driver. The blogger did not provide any evidence, but the post caused a huge outcry.
However, the real scandal began after Max Barsky's team responded harshly to the blogger in private messages.
“I was put off by these tales you spread. What a pathetic, foul-mouthed piece of lazybones you are … Keep my name out of your bad, stinking mouth!” — reads the message that Bespalov posted on his stories.
Bespalov's followers instantly split into two camps. Some supported the blogger, believing that stars should be prepared for publicity. Others sided with Barsky, stating that personal life should not become a topic for baseless insinuations.
This is not the first time Barsky's name has been at the center of public controversy over his reaction. In 2012, the singer's manager attacked an ICTV crew after an awkward interview. The incident was quickly hushed up, but today's case raises the question of how far a public figure can go to protect his reputation.
