Ukrainian singer Natalka Karpa spoke out about the behavior of her colleagues - rapper Potap and his wife, artist Nastya Kamensky, who left abroad after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Potap, known to Ukrainian listeners for his hits, has been commenting less and less on events in Ukraine since leaving and mostly shows off his life abroad on social media. Nastya Kamensky, although she lives mostly abroad, occasionally visits Ukraine and takes part in events in support of her homeland.
Natalka Karpa admitted that it is difficult for her to condemn the decision of Potap and Kamensky, since it is their personal choice. However, the singer suggested that the reason for Potap's departure could be illness. She also noted that she would like to see more civic activity from the rapper, given his popularity and influence on the Ukrainian audience.
"I would definitely like him to have a more civic stance. Because his audience was millions of Ukrainians who had been singing along to his songs for years, and in such difficult times, I would definitely like him to still support Ukrainians, support the Ukrainian nation and culture," Karpa emphasized.
Regarding Nastya Kamensky, Natalka noted that her colleague is currently actively working in the Latin American market, and although Karpa admires Nastya's achievements on the international stage, she expressed regret over the artist's lack of a clear position on the war in Ukraine.
“She writes a lot of songs, focuses on Latin America, I understand that there is a big market there. […] It seems to me that they are now ruling as they see fit, as they are comfortable. The only thing is, it is a pity that there is no clear position and support for Ukraine, and cool Ukrainian songs that should have been there,” Karpa noted.
