Scandal in the Red Cross, the former head is accused of stealing millions of hryvnias worth of humanitarian aid

The former head of the Pechersk district organization of the Red Cross is accused of abuse of office and theft of humanitarian aid in the amount of approximately 3.6 million hryvnias. Information about this was provided by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office. The ex-head of the Red Cross of one of Kyiv's districts was suspected of embezzling nearly 4 million "humanitarian funds"

During the searches, humanitarian aid in the amount of over 1 million hryvnias was found at the former head of the organization. This aid was transferred to the Kyiv City Red Cross Organization for safekeeping. Her house, office and car were searched.

In addition, it was established that a former volunteer of this organization, acting with unidentified persons, sold fake certificates of Red Cross volunteers and illegally used the symbols of the organization on her own car.The ex-head of the Red Cross of one of Kyiv's districts was suspected of embezzling nearly 4 million "humanitarian funds" crime

An investigation is currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The prosecutor's office is working on the return of the rest of the stolen humanitarian aid and the identification of all those involved in this crime.
